Time - With sunset shoots we typically aim to start 2 hours before sunset. Be sure to be on time and ready to go at our agreed upon time. If you are running late, that is time lost! We can't slow down the sunset!

Horse - You will want the horse to be nice and clean for the pictures which includes brushing or braiding the mane, cleaning up the legs and hooves, and trimming up any crazy whiskers. Makes sure to plan ahead and clean your horse up before you get dressed!

Clothing - General rules of portraits apply! Try not to wear overly bright colors or busy patterns. Stay away from green so you stand out from the trees in the background.  Stay away from white too! Horses' mouths get pretty dirty when they munch on grass and it only takes one small bump to stain a nice white shirt! If you plan to sit on the horse, wear pants or a dress long enough to do so!

Guests - We encourage you to bring a friend or family member for help and support, we suggest only having one or two guests with you.  Horses are more likely to spook or be difficult if they feel surrounded or have too many people around. There will always be two of us at a shoot so you will have plenty of helping hands around!

Don’t be afraid to give your thoughts or have ideas.  I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of horse portraits and have ideas of what you want. While I have we have our own style, we will do our best to bring your vision to life!
